Coiltech Deutschland 2025

Coiltech is an international meeting point for coil winding professionals.

Its key areas are:

At booth 5H-18, Fraunhofer IISB will inform about its research activities on electric machines, to which we are now dedicating a specialist group. Our new group is developing motors with maximum system efficiency and power density, which are tailored to automotive and aviation applications in particular thanks to their lightweight and compact design. The portfolio ranges from the design of e-machines to the prototypical realization of electric motors. Due to our 25 years of experience in the field of vehicle electronics, we have comprehensive test equipment at Fraunhofer IISB, e.g. our motor test bench in the medium-voltage test lab for tests up to 1 MW, which is used for research on electric motors as well.

The picture at the top of this page shows an electrical air compressor that has a maximum speed of 150,000 rpm and provides output power of up to 80 kW for fuel cell applications. The air compressor was developed within the Fraunhofer PREPARE project HABICHT, coordinated by Fraunhofer IISB and with the Fraunhofer institutes IFAM, SCAI, and LBF as project partners. In collaboration with our converter group, the electric air compressor was validated on a test bench with a GaN inverter.
